Bugfixes, and Post-Jam plans
The rating period for the Adventure Jam has ended, and Butterfly Queen ranked #14! Thank you to everyone who played and rated the game, and I'm glad so many people liked it.
I've uploaded a new version of the game for browser and PC, as well as a Mac version. In terms of content, they're essentially the same as the jam browser version -- just with a new animated title screen. Some general improvements and bug fixes have been made, based on feedback received during the jam.
- The speed of the screen scrolling has been increased
- Dragging and scrolling the screen is no longer possible while dialogue is being shown
- You cannot click other items around the map while dialogue is shown, so getting soft-locked should be impossible
- Rollback has been disabled, since it seemed to be causing trouble with the audio
- A bug that could cause you to get stuck on an empty inventory page has been fixed
Now, let's talk about the future of the game! The final version of the game will be released when the story is fully written and coded, but that's not the only change that will be made. The art will be getting an update, since the graphics currently in the game were always meant to be temporary. Some of the puzzles currently in the game will also receive slight modifications to make things a bit less linear, and to support the atmosphere of the game a bit more.
The timeframe of these updates is expected to be a few months, at the earliest -- making games is my passion, but not my full time job; I intend to post updates, however, with information about the progress of the game. Please look forward to it!
For now, I'll leave you with just the new title screen; consider it a teaser of things to come!
